About Jo LB

JoLb (Jo larsen Burnett) took time out from life to take a degree in illustration in 2010….. and realised just what had been missing from her life….  Drawing.  Well not exactly missing but certainly not the main focus.  Now that has all changed.  With a growing list of clients and a freelance practice as the focus of her life in Devon Jo is going from strength to strength and, happily, project to project.

Work is certainly varied but as you will have seen in her portfolios there is definitely a strong identity in the work she is producing and it is a style which is proving popular with a variety of client steams. With commissions as diverse as chapter book illustration, book cover design, advertising copy, editorial illustration, Logo Design, wedding favours, invitations, badge and card design to painting a plaster cat and illustrated community awareness literature; proof of a flexible, talented and broad skill set to ensure that your project comes to fruition.

Working as an Associate in the print room of Plymouth University has been a dream come true and is allowing unprecedented access to the facilities, not only in the print room but also to the library and lectures and talks on campus.  Jo is an active member of PUPs (Plymouth University Printmakers Society) and produced graphic posters every term week for them to encourage student participation.

Working in schools, community groups and for organisations delivering workshops based (whenever possible) on printmaking, illustration and text has given her further ideas and a drive to create her own artwork in a way which is accessible to all. (Hence the gelli plate)

She has recently become a member of Drawn To The Valley and also The Devon Artists Network DAN and hopes to run open studios next year from the little barn (stone shed!!) in 2016.

Take a look at her blog for current updates on her freelance illustration practice or her newest print series. Alternatively look at her past work on Jo LB Illustration on Pinterest for a comprehensive collection of Ideas, processes, sketches, images and prints.
