I had a fun morning running my first home based jelly printing workshop for customers who had bought a voucher at a Christmas Bazaar in December. With three people in my kitchen I am nearly at capacity (even more reason to get on and get my barn waterproofed and warm!) Jan Parker and her daughter Kay and another friend who was keen to have another go at the process worked on their own plates. Each producing very different prints. When Kay said she was a textile artist we even had a go on a lampshade I had been meaning to have a go with myself! Jan had brought some pre-cut stencils with her which meant her work was very much a reflection of her style. I loved the swimmers. Unfortunately my photos really do not do the morning justice.
Teacher Training Workshop day at Torbridge, Estover.
Workshop as a Teacher Training Activity held at Torbridge Community High School in Estover Plymouth. An event, which I might say, was fantastically orgainised by Antonia Texidor for Art Teachers and Heads of Departments in the Locale. Im blogging on this site because my drawing Together site is still not rebuilt. However from a printmakers point of view its good to talk here too!
I have to say I had a great day and I think participants did too. I only hope that they didn’t get as dirty as me…
Oh!: it seems they may have done!
Aside from grubby fingers I think everyone took something away from the day. There were a lot of very interesting approaches and I will blog about some of these separately. Each participant made a number of prints trying out both silicone and the Jelly plates. The great thing about working in a group is seeing other peoples ideas and letting these ideas feed into your own work. I can highly recommend having a workshop with teachers because they all became very experimental and (to be honest) I cant wait to try out some of these new ideas myself!… So thanks guys.
Here are a few shots of the day – I especially like the “I Did This” photos – Check back again for some insights into the days printmaking approaches by some inventive and very fun people.
